A digital luggage locker facility is being introduced at Kozhikode railway station to modernize passenger services. The self-service smart lockers will be located near the existing cloakroom on platform 4. A 30-sq ft space is dedicated to this project, mirroring similar implementations across Kerala.

Announced by Southern Railway as part of its modernization drive, these high-tech lockers will operate 24/7 via a user-friendly app or QR code system. Just scan, pay securely (UPI, cards, or wallets), and lock away your luggage in seconds—sizes for backpacks to suitcases, with CCTV surveillance and real-time tracking.

This upgrade addresses a long-standing pain point for Kozhikode commuters. Our station handles over 20,000 passengers daily, swelling during Onam or sports events at EMS Stadium. Previously, manual cloakrooms meant long queues and limited hours; now, tech ensures quick access, even for late-night arrivals on the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram route.

Local traders and tourists stand to gain big. Shoppers at Valia Chantha can stash parcels safely, while pilgrims heading to nearby Guruvayur travel light. It’s a win for women travelers and families too, aligning with Kerala’s push for safe, inclusive public spaces.

Rollout starts next month, with 50+ lockers in the main concourse. Southern Railway urges passengers to download the IRCTC app for seamless integration. Kozhikode’s rail hub is evolving—making journeys smoother, one smart locker at a time.
