Muhammed Asim Vellamana, a 19-year-old para swimmer from Velimanna, Kozhikode, Kerala, has achieved notable success in the World Para Swimming Series. Born without arms and with a stunted right leg (90% disability), he competes in the S2 category and ranks among the top internationally.

Asim won gold for India in the Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay at the World Para Swimming Series in Gold Coast, Australia, on February 23, 2026. This marks his latest international highlight, celebrated widely on social media and local news.

Past Performances

He impressed at the 2025 Paris World Para Swimming Series, beating personal bests in 50m/100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, qualifying for the World Championships in Singapore. At the November 2025 National Para Swimming Championship in Hyderabad, he claimed three golds with national records, totaling nine national golds.

Future Goals

Asim trains at Blue Bucks Swimming Centre in Kozhikode, targeting the 2026 Asian Para Games, Commonwealth Para Games, and 2028 Paralympics in the US. His story inspires as Kerala’s first internationally ranked S2 para swimmer (previously 10th globally).
