A brand new, hygienic food street is opening at Kozhikode Beach, featuring around 90 vibrant food stalls, with the inauguration expected by the end of this month just ahead of Onam. Organized by the Kozhikode Corporation, this project provides vendors with modern stalls (designed by Metal Industries) and upgraded facilities such as clean water, reliable electricity, and enhanced sanitation, all part of a ₹4 crore makeover.

The new food street is part of Kerala’s first phase of “Model Food Streets,” aimed at bringing world-class, safe, and aesthetically pleasing street food experiences to the public. Vendors are being selected mainly from those already operating at the beach, with financial assistance (₹3 lakh loans from Kerala Bank) for each stall. The area is built to comply with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines and includes advanced waste management and public toilets for visitors.
